Seycil Ciceylia Sinaga, the owner of Global Event Management ( GEM ) explains that Cotton Club is created for people who live in the island, but has been pushed away from the city they lived in. Bali’s nightlife entertainment is focusing on techno music to pleased the tourists and venues are more welcome to international artists. While actually, there are many senior talents being under appreciated.
The theme of Local heroes in Cotton Club is focusing on Indonesian talents in nightlife entertainment industry from musician, mixologists, promoters, photographers, dancers, and organizers. It is a night where everyone collaborate to make each other feel appreciated in what they do.
Cotton Club was a nightclub in New York City back in 1920’s during the prohibition era. During that era, there was racial segregation between people of colour. But in Cotton Club , the entertainers are mostly African Americans. Now in Cotton Club, The local heroes takes control of all entertainment program, and Bali expats get a chance to enjoy the real local talents.
Appointed local heroes in Cotton Club was Remy Irwan Firmansyah. The Man, The Legend of underground music in Indonesia. Remy Irwan is senior disc jockey who have travel the world to promote techno music for decades. He confirmed that the interests of techno music in Indonesia, especially Bali is progressing in the past three years. He believes when it comes to music sense, Indonesia is leading the music scene in south east Asia.
The other heroes who controlled the quality of beverage of the night was Ayip Dzuhri aka the cocktails wizards. Ayip Dzuhri was crowned as Indonesia’s ‘Bartender of the Year’ in the Diageo World Class semi-finals and bar show 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. He recently joined Alila Seminyak as the resort’s head mixologist. Another Indonesia’s hidden talent that deserve more recognition.
