Burnout in Business

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. This mental state conditions often happen to high executives, and business owners.


How' s burnout feels like ?

The feeling of exhaustion, emptiness, unable to think creatively, and lack of motivation to start the day. The feeling of sick to your stomach every time you think about unfinished task that is accumulation in your tabs.


The feeling of doubts, and more doubts about yourself, your company, your vision, to a point you can no longer count your blessings, or even remembering your accomplishment to a point where it's all seems meaningless and you start being unproductive.

How to get out of the burnout funk ?

I love this quote that I have seen somewhere around social media.

If you are tired, learn to rest. Not quit. It's okay to take a break.

This is the best advise to tackle burnout. You just have to be aware of your state of mind, and knows that you are allow to recharge yourself.


Don't be ashamed of your mental state, address it to the people you work with. You have given your all for a long time, pushing through under high pressure, making the impossible happened, and now you just need to spend a few hours looking through old pictures in facebook, listening to some old playlists, and watch some tv series you haven't seen on Netflix. Let yourself know that it's okay!



Recovering from burnout

Take a few days off or a week OFF it you are really feeling terrible. Let yourself miss your work again, Let yourself be creative again ( don't rush it ). Meditate, some people pray if they are more religious, some people workout, some people go to the beach, some climb the mountains.


Write down your feelings, or tell someone about it all. Your feelings, what causing you feels this way, when it begins. Don't hold it back alone.


Feeling burnout is normal, especially when you have given much more than you can take. There are many other people feeling the same. Share, and help each other feel better. And come back to hustle.
